Buffalo’s strange history isn’t confined to dry land. In fact, one of its most famous and mysterious locations is the Buffalo Naval Park which, if rumors are to be believed, has three haunted ships; the USS Sullivans, the USS Little Rock, and the USS Croaker. The Ghost Hunters crew have even investigated the ships and had their own terrifying experiences.
The USS Little Rock
On the USS Little Rock, visitors have heard disembodied whispers, footsteps walking the long abandoned corridors of the ship, and even sink faucets that have been known to turn themselves on and off. Visitors have also claimed the soul of a lonely sailor still resides on the ship who looks for comfort by following female guests around. There is said to be another spirit that’s considered a prankster, gaining enjoyment from spooking visitors.
USS Sullivan
The most famous of the three is the USS Sullivan, whose story is full of tragedy. It was named after five brothers who all joined the military during World War II to stay together. They all met their end when the ship was struck by an enemy torpedo. Many believe that one of the brothers remains on the ship, searching for his lost brothers so they can be together in death as they were in life.
USS Croaker
The USS Croaker, which is actually a submarine, has the darkest reputation. Many say there is a malevolent spirit named John dislikes guests visiting his resting place. He’s been known to menacingly breathe down people’s necks, pull their hair, and even appear as an apparition to block doorways!
Case Evidence: The Naval Officer Apparition

An elderly couple claims while visiting one of the ships, they approached a naval officer to ask a question, who kindly helped them. When leaving, they looked for the officer to thank him for his assistance. But they were notified by staff that there were no officers aboard the ship that day.
